Ugh!

My son was injured last Tuesday at school. A child grabbed my son by the shoulders from behind and kneed him in the tailbone. Brennan came home and told me what happened and said he was in a lot of pain. I took him to MedExpress. The x-ray revealed he had a dislocated coccyx. They wanted me to follow up with an Orthopedic Surgeon.  I was angry and my heart hurt for my boy. I contacted the school on Wednesday morning and they said they had insurance to cover the medical bills as we have a 500.00 deductible for each of us.  I was told that the child would be suspended and brought up on charges. On Thursday I  went to the school with Brennan and Alaina to talk to the principal. The nurse and a school officer were there as well. Brennan was told to write a statement. Alaina made sure Brennan was very specific. She had him put down his pain level and told him to be exact as possible.
At this meeting I was told that the school is not responsible for Brennans medical bills. The officer told me that there are three different types of charges and the second charge fits the incident. I have a problem with police getting involved every time something happens with a child at school, however, this isn't the first time the child did this to Brennan. He did the same thing last Monday. Not to mention the fact Brennan was actually injured. The nurse and principal were very respectful and seemed concerned for Brennan.
On Friday Brennan had his appointment with the Ortho doctor. They read the x-ray from MedExpress. Not only is Brennans coccyx dislocated, it is also chipped. It will take at least a month to heal. He could also have problems off and on for the rest of his life. At this age bones are not formed. All I can do is give him 400 mgs of ibuprofen 3x a day for pain. He has to take things easy.
Yesterday I called the school to let them know the findings from Brennans Ortho appointment. I was told the boy is being charged and was suspended for three days. The juvenile court or the officer should contact me within two weeks. It looks like we will have to appear on the childs court date. I have a few things to say that day. As a victim Brennan will be able to speak to the judge. I want Brennans medical bills taken care of. I hope the child will understand what this injury has done to Brennan.
When your child is hurt you literally feel their pain. Only a parent understands this.

Cancer sucks!

Cancer sucks!
My aunt was just diagnosed with breast cancer. My Mammaw had breast cancer. My uncle had cancer. My brother in law had brain cancer.
The thought of someone else in my family with cancer is horrible. My aunts cancer is the same type as my Mammaws. Now we have to see if it is genetic.
My aunt is not just my aunt. She is one of my best friends. She is only 13 years older than me.  I tell her everything. See, I am about to cry just thinking of her. We have been through so much together. We even lived together for a time. We had shared so many things together. MANY happy times but a few sad. The loss of my grandparents(her parents), for example.
When my aunt called to tell me they found a lump I could not believe what I just heard. She said I got quiet. I guess I was as I had so many things running through my head. Sort of deja vu. I flashed back to when Mammaw called and told me she had breast cancer. This cant be happening again.
I am so worried for her. She lives all the way across the country so I cant even take her to her appointments. Feeling helpless sucks. All I can do is be here for her. To listen if she wants to talk. To make a joke if she wants to laugh. I hope she knows how much I love her and how much she means to me.
  I love you Aunt Heather!
